B.W. studied film scoring as part of his Commercial Music Composition/Production studies at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. His work in film music explores the relationship between music and picture—using composition, orchestration, and production to help shape emotion, atmosphere, pacing, and story.
From original short films and trailers to rescoring existing scenes, each project presents a different challenge: finding the musical voice that supports what is happening on screen without getting in the way of it.
SCORING WORK
CAKE EATER
Original Short Film Score
Filmed in Russian, Cake Eater inspired B.W. to draw on Eastern European musical influences for the score. He also used changing meter to help propel the film forward, beginning in 3/4 and adding an eighth note with each successive section—moving through 7/8, 4/4, 9/8, and beyond. In the film’s final scene, the music returns to 3/4, bringing the rhythmic progression full circle.

HECATE
Original Short Film Score
Hecate, a horror film about a dog-eating witch, gave B.W. the opportunity to use recurring musical themes to connect characters and moments throughout the story. A theme introduced at the beginning of the film represents the family and their two dogs, then returns later when one of the dogs is buried, giving the earlier music a very different emotional context. The score also moves through dramatically different sounds and styles, from deep choral voices to hard instrumental rock, reflecting the film’s shifts in mood and intensity.

HALLOWEEN II - MICHAEL MYERS VS. BERNIE LOMAX
Trailer Score
For this horror-comedy trailer, B.W. incorporated the iconic Halloween musical theme into the music, adapting its familiar sound and atmosphere to fit a trailer that combines the worlds of Halloween and Weekend at Bernie’s.

VAN HELSING
Rescoring Project
For this scene from Van Helsing, B.W. removed the existing score and composed new music to accompany the sequence, creating his own interpretation of the scene’s action, pacing, and dramatic arc.
FINDING NEMO
Scoring Project
Unlike the Van Helsing exercise, this scene from Finding Nemo originally contained no music. B.W. composed music for the sequence from scratch, exploring how the addition of a score can change the mood and emotional perspective of a scene that was originally designed to work without one.
